Serial ATA (SATA) / Parallel ATA / SCSI
Serial ATA, (SATA) technology offers extensive performance gains and manufacturing efficiencies to the mainstream PC storage user. With a transfer rate of 1.5 Gigabits per second (Gbps) and scalable to 3.0 Gbps and 6.0 Gbps, Serial ATA technology also enables the application of cost-effective, storage interface to enterprise storage applications which, until now, have required more expensive interface technologies such as Fibre Channel and SCSI.

Parallel ATA, (PATA) drives use big data connectors with (normally) big flat ribbon cables. For power they use regular 4 pin Molex connectors.[1] PATA drives are still available (but are becoming more expensive now as many more SATA models are sold of course), for how long I can’t say, but we expect for a couple of years yet.
SCSI (Skuzzy) stands for Small Computer System Interface, and if you don't want to pronounce each letter individually, it's OK to call it "skuzzy." SCSI, like ATA (Advanced Technology Attachment) or SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment), can be used for connecting more than just hard drives to a computer system, and some of the other peripherals that can support SCSI include tape drives, optical drives, printers, and scanners.
